Artist's Description
NEOWISE Soars Past Earth
On Friday evening I headed up Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain NP for the once in a lifetime opportunity to capture the newly discovered comet C/2020 F3, NEOWISE. The comet is putting on a beautiful display as it soars past Earth back into outer space leaving behind trails of gas and dust. Knowing NEOWISE would appear in the northwest sky, I planned for this spot hoping to line the comet up with mushroom rocks. Everything fell into place, the clouds cleared after sunset, and NEOWISE made its decent towards the horizon perfectly lined up between these rock formations. A wondrous sight to behold!
