Description
This young moose was a little apprehensive when it first spotted me hiking. It retreated to the forest out of sight, while mother moose looked me over. After deciding I wasn't a threat, mom went back to eating her lunch of willows next to a small pond. Sensing the OK, baby slowly emerged from the trees, a few steps at a time, to join mom for lunch. I sat down at the other end of the pond, and got to spend a peaceful afternoon with the pair. I hope they have a safe winter, and live to roam the forest for many years to come.
